POR/NO XD FW1819

We have reached into the 30 years worth of archive of the Croatian brand Xenia Design. It is Gala’s mother’s brand, as well as our parent factory. We took unsold and deadstock items, which had been sitting in the warehouse for a long time, with a goal to create clothes that could correlate and appeal to the culture of today. In fact, we realised that we had been ordering new materials for two seasons, while we had a pile of unused and forgotten potential right by our side.
Each XD piece is altered in 1 or 3 different phases. In the first phase, we have changed the given intention of the piece by turning it into a garment with a different function. In the second phase, we have changed the silhouette of the piece, and in the third phase, we have embellished the garment with prints. The collection also draws upon a lot of Croatian culture references. It is completely recycled and environmentally friendly as we want to stop pollution and save the world.

LOOK 1

This is made of 3 XD jackets from 2001, and upgraded pants from an unknown year, all worn by our hometown girl Magdic. The thing underneath the trench is staying a secret for now. This trench can also be easily separated so you can get a jacket for you and 2 of your friends. Pants have this very trendy PVC upgrade so you can show off your sneakers.

LOOK 2

Wonderful Medimurje dog Kata featured on this one, also very special to us. Our intimacy with this outstanding but shy dog is showcased on a shirt which is, using phase 1 of POR/NO XD process, transferred to a bag. Kata was carefully photographed and scanned by well known Matej Jurcevic so we could use her beautiful fur as a print for this bag. No more generic prints! In the same time, this one has a soul but also supports FAUX FUR policy. Shirt our dreamy shimmery model Mirna is wearing has no deep message other than showing off technical skills. It was broken into small pieces and then connected with the technique of seamless sewing. The pink stripes you can see are actually the tape used for connecting parts together.

LOOK 3

Dear friends, left soul on this one. Luna is wearing our new clothing line GALMAIN COUTURE featuring hot & short stuff in which you can easily get in all Croatian clubs.

LOOK 4

Hot little black dress. Here you can only see the clothes after the transformation, but we hope that this dress is hot enough for you. We pleated it and hooked with XD label. Also, it’s unzipped and tied with hot metal chains.

LOOK 5

Yin Yang dress. The golden ratio, angel and devil, PRICE ON REQUEST and XD. The specific thing about this dress is that it’s somewhere in between, but still not sure where. It consists of two dresses. White is Xenia Design and the black is ours. When worn separately, these two dresses behave totally different. We could easily see the white dress on Dalmatia’s most romantic sandy beaches worn by someone young and innocent. On the other side, this too small little black dress could easily find it’s spot underneath the lights of Zagreb’s most expensive VIP clubs but also worn by someone young and innocent. The black one is also waterproof and windproof which is very important when playing the famous Screwing In A Bulb game and drinking. On this post, we can see this balanced perfect match worn by Maria. The shiny red platform heels came just like a cherry on top of this outfit.

LOOK 6

Dear friends, unfortunately, the only men’s outfit here. It’s obvious, it was worn by our dearest and most beautiful designer Filip and it was pretty complicated, just as he is. You may not see it now but this is made out of 2 women’s suits. One was black and the other one was checkered. The suits were separated, cut and finally sewn and taped together so they formed a men’s suit which is so proudly worn by Filip. The red stripes, which are holding the suit together, is a tape which was glued on using a thermopress.

LOOK7

Today we are being honest with you. The print on this suit is here just because it’s trendy and we used it as an experiment. As you know, this suit didn’t have these red tattoos on it, so it really looked outdated. It was brown and had lace/roses print all over it. Then we asked ourselves what will happen if we put the most trendy print ATM on this one, will it become relevant? And it did, it’s totally connected to nowadays aesthetics. An interesting thing about this one is how easily you can make something that most people will admire, want and think it’s cool. Much easier than creating something new. You can just follow the trends, use the most hyped about materials and prints and it’s guaranteed it will sell out, especially here. But is it the right way? Don’t think so. The attachment for trousers was made from left out pants parts used for men’s suit. It was also taped with thermofoil and printed with the same pattern.

LOOK 8

We had a bunch of unused t-shirts and a dress which was beautiful but transparent. In order to wear it, you had to put something underneath it, which is not bad, but why when you can make this function as a one. First, you have to form a dress from old t-shirts and then put it on a transparent dress. In this way, you are covering body parts but also looking cool. Easy as pie. We messed up if your intention was showing off yourself, which is on the other hand really trendy nowadays. Maybe this one is not so forward thinking as we are. But maybe we are so forward thinking that this is going to be the next hot. Who knows? Fashion is so unpredictable.

LOOK 9

This turtle-neck shirt has a thick layer of thermofoil covering the whole piece. When wearing it for the first time you have to tear it apart while putting it on. In this way, shirt adjusts to your body measures (from XS to XL). The original XD version was also unsold because it was XXL and now it adjusts to your size. The skirt model is wearing is made from pants which were deconstructed and transferred to a skirt.

LOOK 10

This one is all about the figure and body consciousness. As you have figured by now, the whole POR/NO XD collection addressed a huge range of problems we are facing these days. Started from recycling now we here. For this outfit, we have mixed the pieces from our previous collection with the ones from XD. On a white vest top, we have added the sleeves from PRICE ON REQUEST shirt, but they were placed on the waist so, in the case you want to hide your belly you can wrap around these sleeves. If you’re okay with your belly, you can easily get “wrapped-around” shirt effect without putting the whole shirt on. Also, we all know that white pants can make you look a bit heavier, maybe this is the reason they were unsold. So we put a photo of KAUB pants from our previous collection on them. In that way, you have pants in pants, or pants on pants, but also, they are black so you can look even better than you really are. What an optic game! Long live body positive attitude!
